Dr. Haitham Al-Hashimi

Dr Haitham Al-Hashimi is a consultant cardiologist with over two decades of experience in comprehensive cardiovascular care. He trained at the University of Leicester Medical School in the UK, where he completed his medical degree (MBChB) and gained his MRCP qualification. He then pursued specialist training in cardiology before relocating to Dubai, where he established the only dedicated Adult Congenital Heart Disease unit in the emirate—a significant achievement in regional healthcare. Later, he returned to London to advance his expertise at the National Heart Hospital, University College of London, where he completed his Fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

Dr Haitham's clinical practice centres on managing complex cardiac conditions across the lifespan. His main areas of focus include adult congenital heart disease (conditions affecting the heart structure from birth, diagnosed or managed in adulthood), pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lung arteries), and maternal cardiology (heart health during pregnancy). He performs a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including echocardiograms (ultrasound scans of the heart), stress testing, heart rhythm monitoring, coronary angiography (imaging of heart blood vessels), and pacemaker checks. He also manages heart failure, irregular heartbeats, and complex high blood pressure.

Dr Haitham brings a patient-centred approach to cardiac care and is particularly well-suited for adults with congenital heart conditions, pregnant women with cardiac concerns, and those with rare or complex pulmonary conditions. He now practises at King's Jumeirah Medical Centre in Dubai, where he delivers evidence-based cardiovascular care informed by his extensive international training and pioneering clinical work.
