Dr. Ahmed R. Taha

Dr. Ahmed R. Taha is an Associate Staff Physician in the Critical Care Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute. He trained in critical care and cardiothoracic surgery at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, where he completed both his medical degree and residency between 1986 and 2000. Before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in 2020, he spent 12 years as a Specialist in Critical Care at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, treating the most critically ill cardiac and transplant patients.

Dr. Taha specializes in managing patients after major heart surgery and those who have received organ transplants. His key areas of expertise include mechanical heart-assist devices, extracorporeal life support (advanced machines that temporarily take over the heart and lung function), management of cardiogenic shock (when the heart fails to pump effectively), and ultrasound-guided airway procedures. He has performed more than 100 ultrasound-guided tracheostomy procedures (minimally invasive breathing tube placements) and brings extensive experience in treating sepsis and multi-organ failure.

Dr. Taha is deeply engaged in medical education and research. He serves as a course consultant and director for the Society of Critical Care Medicine, running training programs across the Middle East in critical care fundamentals and ultrasound. In 2023, he received the Presidential Citation Award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine for extraordinary contributions to the field.
