Dr. Wael Ahmed Seliem

Dr. Wael Ahmed Seliem is a Professor of Paediatrics and Neonatology at the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt. He completed advanced training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Canberra Hospital and the University of Sydney in Australia, building extensive clinical experience across multiple countries. Most recently, he served as chief of the neonatal unit at a major private hospital in Kuwait for 10 years.

Dr. Seliem specializes in evidence-based neonatal medicine, with particular expertise in managing extremely premature infants and babies with birth-related brain injury. He favours non-invasive ventilation approaches where possible, avoiding mechanical ventilation when clinically appropriate. He also performs therapeutic hypothermia treatment for newborns with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE), a serious condition caused by lack of oxygen at birth.

He is a good fit for families with critically ill or premature newborns who want specialist-level care from someone with deep experience in complex neonatal conditions and a preference for gentler, less invasive treatment approaches.
