Dr. Laila Mahmoud

Dr. Laila Mahmoud is a specialist psychiatrist with 21 years of experience treating adults, children, and families across the UAE, Kuwait, and Egypt. She has worked in major UAE emirates including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah, and served with the UAE Ministry of Health and Kuwait Centre for Mental Health. Her career spans inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, multidisciplinary team leadership, and specialized procedures.

Dr. Mahmoud treats depression, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, behavioural problems, and trauma-related conditions. She combines medication with psychoeducation and psychosocial interventions tailored to each patient. For severe and treatment-resistant cases, she performs electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). She specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, addressing developmental and emotional challenges through a family-centred approach.

As a trainer in the WHO mhGAP initiative, Dr. Mahmoud has coached general practitioners and family physicians to strengthen mental health services in the community. She believes that understanding and empathy, combined with evidence-based science, restore hope and wellbeing.
