Dr. Jassem Abdou

Dr. Jassem Abdou is a Consultant Pulmonologist and Head of the Pulmonology Department at Reem Hospital in Abu Dhabi. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he is French board-certified in pulmonary medicine and brings deep expertise in diagnosing and treating lung conditions. He trained at the University of Lille in France and, after practising in France, relocated to the UAE in 1992 where he spent 18 years as a Consultant in Pulmonary and Internal Medicine at Zayed Military Hospital.

Dr. Abdou specializes in managing asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep apnea, chest infections, and cystic fibrosis. He performs bronchoscopy (a procedure to examine the airways) and pulmonary function testing to assess lung capacity and function. He treats cases ranging from mild to severe and uses therapies such as CPAP machines for sleep apnea. His work also includes contributing to medical education, particularly training doctors preparing for the Arab Board certification in Internal Medicine.

Fluent in English, Arabic, and French, Dr. Abdou is committed to advancing pulmonary care in the region. He is an active member of both the European Respiratory Society and the Emirates Respiratory Society. He joined Reem Hospital in September 2023 and continues to lead clinical practice and research in respiratory medicine.
