Dr. Hossam Elmasry

Dr. Hossam Elmasry is a consultant cardiologist who has been practising cardiology since 2004. He began his career at the National Heart Institute in Cairo, Egypt, one of Africa's and the Middle East's largest cardiology centres. He completed his postgraduate training in cardiology at Ain Shams University in Cairo, and advanced to become Head of the Emergency Department at his previous institution in 2014. He is now Head of the Cardiology Department at Saudi German Hospital Egypt, overseeing services in both Cairo and Alexandria since 2021.

Dr. Elmasry has developed particular expertise in cardiac pre-participation sports evaluation—assessing heart health in athletes before competition. He demonstrated this specialisation by leading the Medical Committee during the African Nations Championship in Egypt in 2019. Beyond clinical practice, he contributes to healthcare policy as a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the Healthcare Authority in Egypt since 2022.
