Dr. Jamal Kassouma

Dr. Jamal Kassouma is a Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon at Reem Hospital in Abu Dhabi with over 30 years of clinical experience. He trained to Fellowship level (FRCS Ed, FRCS ORL-HNS) and has held academic positions as Professor at Damascus University in Syria and Associate Professor at Dubai Medical College in the UAE. He is internationally recognized for pioneering cochlear implant surgery in the Middle East.

Dr. Kassouma's clinical focus spans microscopic ear surgery, cochlear implantation (implants that restore hearing by stimulating the auditory nerve), bone-anchored hearing implants, and auditory rehabilitation for deaf patients. He has performed approximately 10,000 complex ear surgeries and around 1,900 cochlear implantations across multiple countries, including introducing the first bone-conduction hearing implant in the UAE and performing the first cochlear implant under local anesthesia on an 80-year-old patient. He runs specialized clinics for ear disease and hearing loss at Reem Hospital every Saturday.
