Dr. Karema Helal

Dr. Karema Helal is a Senior Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Mediclinic Al Jowhara Hospital in Al Ain, with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She trained at Assiut University in Egypt, where she earned her medical degree and master's in obstetrics and gynaecology, and later achieved her MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) in London. She also holds a diploma in advanced diagnostic ultrasound from the UAE and a master's in healthcare administration from the University of Atlanta.

Dr. Helal specializes in managing high-risk pregnancies, antenatal care, and fetal medicine. She performs a wide range of diagnostic ultrasounds including dating scans, nuchal translucency (NT) scans, 18–22 week anomaly scans, Doppler studies of the umbilical cord and brain, fetal echocardiography, and growth monitoring scans. She also carries out invasive prenatal tests such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS), provides genetic counselling for abnormal findings, and manages all types of deliveries—both straightforward vaginal births and complex cases requiring intervention.

Her expertise extends to general gynaecological problems, postpartum care, family planning advice, and gynaecological surgery. Dr. Helal is a member of the Arab Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and holds certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She is fluent in English and Arabic and brings Egyptian medical training combined with UK and international qualifications to her practice.
