Dr. Sunny Philip

Dr Sunny Philip is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist with over two decades of experience in the UK, where he has worked since 2000. Since 2002, he has led the Department of Paediatric Neurology and the children's complex epilepsy program at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital, one of the largest and most respected paediatric epilepsy centres in the UK. He trained in paediatric neurology in both the UK and USA, and was also a senior clinical lecturer at Birmingham University.

Dr Philip specialises in the diagnosis and management of childhood epilepsy — particularly complex and genetic forms — as well as developmental delays, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, headaches, muscle and nerve disorders, and neurometabolic conditions. He has particular expertise in paediatric epilepsy surgery and neurorehabilitation. His work has been recognised internationally, with his epilepsy surgery program achieving international standards in outcomes and expansion of services.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Philip is a passionate educator who has been instrumental in developing and leading training courses for the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) both in the UK and internationally. He has published over 45 peer-reviewed papers and presented at numerous national and international conferences, serving as principal investigator for multinational research studies. He is a member of key professional bodies including the General Medical Council UK, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the European Paediatric Neurology Society, and the BPNA, where he served as Secretary of the Executive.
