Dr. Ali El Houni

Dr. Ali El Houni is a senior consultant endocrinologist and professor with over 35 years of experience in endocrinology, working across the UK and UAE. He completed his MBChB and MSc from the University of Liverpool School of Medicine and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in the UK and Ireland. He is widely recognized internationally for his contributions to thyroid cancer research and diabetes care.

Dr. El Houni specializes in thyroid disorders, thyroid cancer, diabetes management, and hormonal imbalances. He treats type 1 and type 2 diabetes—including patients using continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps—as well as obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, parathyroid disorders, bone loss (osteoporosis), adrenal disorders, pituitary gland disorders, and reproductive and growth-related endocrine conditions. He also manages diabetes and thyroid conditions in pregnancy, diabetic foot complications, and calcium and electrolyte imbalances. His diagnostic expertise includes thyroid ultrasound and thyroid nodule assessment.

At Tawam Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Dr. El Houni served as Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and led the Thyroid Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, while also directing the Imperial College London Endocrinology Fellowship Programme and serving as a Clinical Associate Professor at the United Arab Emirates University.
