Dr. Shireen Farouk

Dr. Shireen Farouk is a Consultant Family Medicine Physician at Burjeel Medical Center, Al Zeina, in Abu Dhabi. She is North American certified and brings more than 24 years of extensive clinical experience to her practice. Her medical foundation began at Cairo University, where she earned her medical degree, followed by advanced training in anesthesia and intensive care medicine, culminating in a PhD in 2007. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Western Ontario in Canada and became certified by the Canadian College in 2016.

Dr. Farouk's clinical expertise spans family medicine, anesthesiology, intensive care, chronic disease management, preventive health, and women's health. Throughout her career, she has worked at leading hospitals in Canada—including Mount Sinai Hospital, Women's College, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Toronto Western Hospital—as well as the National Heart Institute in Egypt. She also contributed to critical care services during the COVID-19 pandemic at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

She is fluent in English and Arabic and is committed to patient-centred, evidence-based care for patients of all ages. Her combination of family medicine training with expertise in anesthesia and intensive care positions her well for managing complex cases and acute situations within primary and general medical care.
