Dr. Colin Maciver

Dr. Colin Maciver is a consultant maxillofacial and head and neck surgeon at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, with over 25 years of surgical experience. He trained in the UK, where he obtained his M.B.Ch.B. and his Certificate of Completion of Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is licensed by the General Medical Council.

Dr. Maciver treats a wide range of head and neck conditions, from cancers of the head, neck, thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands to facial trauma and skin cancers of the face and neck. He specializes in complex reconstruction using microvascular free flaps (living tissue grafts moved with their blood vessels), facial reanimation to restore movement and function, and post-traumatic reconstruction. He also uses advanced techniques including 3D planning, custom-made implants, and intraoperative navigation to guide surgery with precision, as well as minimally invasive approaches where appropriate. Facial cosmetic surgery is another area of his practice.

Dr. Maciver is a member of leading surgical organizations including the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, the European Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
