Dr. Athar Safi

Dr. Athar Safi is an internal medicine consultant who has been based in the UAE since 2009. He obtained his medical degree in Pakistan in 2002 and completed his fellowship training in general medicine in 2009 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and holds specialist licenses from both the DHA and DHCC. Dr. Safi brings extensive experience in managing inpatient care, with a particular focus on older patients and those undergoing cancer treatment.

He specializes in palliative care medicine—an approach focused on comfort and quality of life for people with serious, life-limiting illnesses. Dr. Safi is skilled at managing complex symptoms such as pain, nausea, breathlessness, and fatigue that often arise from advanced cancer and chronic conditions. He works with patients and their families to identify what matters most to them, involving them in thoughtful decision-making about their care and future.
