Dr. Shanthi Sairam

Dr. Shanthi Sairam is a consultant in fetal medicine at Mediclinic with training from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. She has worked as a specialist in fetal medicine in the UK and as a consultant in fetal medicine and fetal cardiology at a tertiary care centre in India, bringing international experience in maternal-fetal care.

Dr. Sairam performs routine ultrasound scans for all pregnant women as well as specialized scans for high-risk pregnancies, including those with fetal anomalies and multiple pregnancies (twins or more). She has extensive experience counselling and managing pregnancies where birth defects or heart conditions are detected in the baby. She also performs invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villous sampling when genetic testing is needed.

She has a particular focus on fetal echocardiography (heart scanning in pregnancy) and fetal cardiology. Dr. Sairam is an active teacher who lectures at regional, national and international conferences, and has published scientific papers and book chapters in fetal medicine.
