Dr. Fereidoon Shafiei

Dr. Fereidoon Shafiei is a Staff Physician in the Cardiovascular Medicine Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He is a cardiac electrophysiologist with 22 years of experience, having trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, where he served as chief resident. He completed specialized fellowship training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago and Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Dr. Shafiei specializes in diagnosing and treating complex heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, and supraventricular tachycardia. He has performed over 1,000 complex ablations and more than 1,500 device treatments throughout his career. His procedural expertise includes pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, lead extraction, and lead management. He is particularly skilled in managing patients with syncope and palpitations related to arrhythmias.

Dr. Shafiei is a fellow of both the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology. His clinical interests focus on complex arrhythmias and ablation techniques, and he is actively involved with the electrophysiology lab team. He is a good fit for patients with irregular heartbeats, those requiring pacemakers or defibrillators, or anyone with complex arrhythmia conditions needing specialized management.
