Dr. Yusuf Bayrak

Dr. Yusuf Bayrak is a Staff Physician in the Thoracic Surgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He trained at Istanbul University, completing his medical degree and surgical residency in general thoracic surgery there. Before moving to Abu Dhabi, he was an Associate Professor and head of thoracic surgery at Istanbul Medipol University Hospital, where he also taught at the international medical school.

Dr. Bayrak has completed over 1,000 lung surgeries and is skilled in both minimally invasive and open techniques. He specializes in video thoracoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted lung resections, and treatment of complex lung cancers and benign chest diseases. He pioneered robotic thoracic surgery in Turkey starting in 2010. His particular clinical interests are in removing lung metastases (cancer spread to the lungs) and complex lung tumors requiring extended surgery.

He brings 27 years of experience and a research focus on fast-track surgical recovery and how gut bacteria affect post-operative complications.
