Dr. Samer Hajjo

Dr. Samer Hajjo is a consultant ophthalmologist with 24 years of experience in eye care, particularly focused on strabismus (eye misalignment) and pediatric ophthalmology. He graduated from Aleppo University in 1996 and completed his specialist training in ophthalmology at Damascus University's Al-Mouwasat Hospital with distinction in 2000. He trained further at Necker University Hospital for Children in Paris in 2003, obtaining certified specialization in strabismus. Dr. Hajjo is a pioneer in his field—he established Syria's first specialized strabismus clinic in 1999 and founded the Specialized Center for Strabismus and Optics in Damascus in 2005, which grew to operate three strabismus clinics and an optics clinic serving patients from across Syria and neighboring countries.

Dr. Hajjo has performed thousands of successful strabismus surgeries and treated tens of thousands of patients over his career. He has registered five international patents in ophthalmology and two inventions for low-cost devices to measure refractive errors (focusing problems). Beyond clinical practice, he has led the strabismus unit at Mowasat University Hospital, mentored multiple ophthalmologists, and served as board member and secretary of the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists.

He now works across multiple medical centers in the UAE, Qatar, and Oman.
