Dr. Lucy Waugh

Dr. Lucy Waugh is a consultant paediatrician with over 12 years of clinical experience, primarily gained in specialist children's teaching hospitals across the UK. She graduated with honours in paediatrics from the University of Manchester and completed postgraduate training in infectious diseases at the University of Oxford. After obtaining her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in paediatrics, she was appointed as a consultant at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, one of Europe's largest children's hospitals and home to its busiest paediatric emergency department.

Dr. Lucy's clinical practice spans a wide range of acute and chronic paediatric conditions. She has particular expertise in childhood infections and infectious diseases, but also manages asthma, viral-induced wheeze, abdominal pain, constipation, and nutritional deficiencies. She assesses growth and development, addresses infant feeding problems, and cares for children with complex medical needs. Her training has encompassed immunology, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, emergency care, critical care including neonatal intensive care, and oncology, allowing her to work collaboratively with subspecialists across multiple areas.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Lucy has led service development, supervising paediatricians in training and teaching medical students from the Universities of Liverpool and Oxford. She is actively involved in clinical research focused on infectious diseases, having presented at the European Society of Infectious Diseases and contributed to publications that have informed national clinical guidelines.
