Dr. Samar Zaher Zatara

Samar is a senior occupational therapist at Mediclinic with a specialist focus on hand therapy and upper limb rehabilitation. She trained in Barcelona, earning her BSc in Occupational Therapy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2019, followed by two master's degrees in Physical Activity and Health, and in Neurorehabilitation. She has also completed postgraduate training in Early Care and Evidence-Based Hand Therapy and Clinical Reasoning, and holds a DHA license.

Samar treats a wide range of upper limb conditions, from hand and wrist injuries to nerve damage and stroke recovery. She offers post-surgical rehabilitation for the hand, wrist and elbow, conservative management of fractures and soft tissue injuries, splinting and custom orthotic fabrication, and rehabilitation following nerve injuries such as brachial plexus lesions. She also specialises in conditions like De Quervain's syndrome, TFCC (wrist ligament) injuries, and tendon injuries, using pain management and sensorimotor retraining techniques to restore hand function.

Before moving to the UAE, Samar worked in several hospitals in Barcelona where she developed a strong clinical foundation and a commitment to research. She currently holds board positions with the College of Occupational Therapists of Catalonia and the Spanish Association of Hand and Upper Limb Therapists. She believes in patient-centred, evidence-based treatment planning aimed at helping patients return to the daily activities and hobbies they value most.
