Dr. Deepak Ponath Mohanan

Dr. Deepak Mohanan is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist with over 10 years of clinical experience. He trained at Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in Tamil Nadu, India, where he earned his MD in Internal Medicine and DM (specialty diploma) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Early in his career, he worked at JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) in Puducherry, where he contributed to the liver transplantation team, gaining expertise in managing complex liver conditions. He later relocated to Kerala, where he played a key role in setting up a modern endoscopy unit.

Dr. Deepak specializes in advanced interventional endoscopy and the management of complex liver disorders. He performs diagnostic procedures (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), therapeutic interventions (foreign body removal, hemostasis, variceal banding, sclerotherapy), and specialized techniques including argon plasma coagulation, balloon dilation, complex polypectomy, percutaneous gastrostomy placement, metallic stent insertion, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for bile duct and pancreatic disorders.

He is well suited for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), pancreatobiliary conditions, and those requiring keyhole diagnostic or therapeutic procedures of the digestive tract.
