Dr. Siddiq Anwar

Dr. Siddiq Anwar is a Consultant General Medicine Physician and Internist with 22 years of experience, currently practising at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship and Renal Transplant Fellowship from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA, and holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine from the UK. His career has been marked by significant contributions to kidney care systems across the region.

Dr. Anwar has pioneered several major initiatives in the UAE, including spearheading the digitalisation of end-stage renal disease care across SEHA and establishing the acute kidney injury management pipeline at SSMC. He played a key role in growing the kidney transplant programme in the UAE and founded the UAE Paired Kidney Donation Program, which has expanded access to living-donor transplants. He manages the full spectrum of kidney conditions—from complex transplantation cases and dialysis access interventions to acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, kidney stones, and resistant high blood pressure.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Anwar leads an internationally recognised academic consortium addressing kidney disease across the Gulf region and South Asia, and mentors nephrologists developing transplant programmes in resource-limited settings. He has a particular interest in health informatics, health systems engineering, simulation training, and the application of artificial intelligence to improve kidney care.
