Dr. Alaa Witwit

Dr. Alaa Witwit is a Consultant Radiologist and Head of Department at American Hospital Dubai, bringing over 23 years of international clinical experience across the UK, Norway, and Sweden. He earned his medical degree (MB ChB) from the University of Baghdad in 1994, then pursued advanced training in Scandinavia and the United Kingdom, achieving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in London in 2007. He holds additional qualifications including board certifications from Norway (2008) and Sweden (2009), and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the UK in 2010.

Dr. Witwit's clinical expertise spans cardiothoracic imaging, thoracic interventional radiology, cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI), pediatric radiology, head and neck imaging, and diagnostic ultrasound. At Epsom and St. Helier University Hospital in London, he led cardiothoracic imaging services and performed image-guided lung and pleural biopsies and aspirations. His work encompasses both adult and pediatric patients. In 2021, he was awarded the NHS Hero Award for his significant contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Witwit is fluent in English and Arabic, and maintains memberships with the Royal College of Radiologists, European Society of Radiology, and several specialized societies including the British Society of Head & Neck Radiology and British Society of Pediatric Radiology.
