Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad

Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Director of Robotic Surgery at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, with over 20 years of experience. He is UK trained and holds the qualifications MBBS, PhD, MRCS, and FRCS (Urology). His career has been marked by pioneering contributions to robotic surgery: he established the robotic cystectomy service in Scotland and led the team that performed the first robotic-assisted surgery at SSMC in 2020.

Dr. Ahmad specialises in treating urological cancers—bladder, prostate, kidney, and testicular cancer—as well as urinary stone disease and lower urinary tract symptoms. He performs robotic, laparoscopic, and complex open surgical procedures, offering patients minimally invasive options wherever possible. His practice is supported by extensive research in prostate cancer and urologic oncology, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, for which he has received multiple international awards.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Ahmad is deeply committed to medical education. He serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Urology at Gulf Medical University and has established SSMC's first Leadership Programme for medical students.
