Dr. Waleed Al-Khyatt

Dr Waleed Al-Khyatt is a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon with 14 years of specialist experience in keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery for obesity, upper digestive problems, and general surgery. He trained in the UK, completing his Fellowship (FRCS) in 2015 and specialist surgical certification (CCT) in 2017, followed by advanced training in bariatric surgery at St Richards Centre of Excellence in Chichester. Before joining HealthPoint, he was Lead Consultant and Director of the East Midlands Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Al-Khyatt performs a wide range of keyhole procedures for weight loss—including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and one-anastomosis bypass—as well as surgery for hiatus hernias, acid reflux, gallstones, and abdominal wall hernias. He also provides diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy. His research has focused on oesophageal cancer and improving outcomes in bariatric and emergency surgery; he holds an Honorary Consultant Assistant Professor position at the University of Nottingham Medical School and has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
