Dr. Ahmed AS El-Hakeem

Dr. Ahmed AS El-Hakeem is a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Medcare Hospital Sharjah, with 20 years of experience. He trained in Sudan, France and Ireland, obtaining his MBBS from the University of Gezira and a specialist diploma in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery from the European Institute of Telesurgery in Strasbourg. He completed his general surgery training in Ireland and holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Ireland). Before joining Medcare, he worked as a consultant surgeon in the UK and Ireland and later as a surgical lecturer at RCSI Dublin.

Dr. El-Hakeem's practice covers a broad range of general surgical conditions. He performs keyhole (laparoscopic) procedures including gallbladder removal, appendix removal and hernia repair. He also manages gastrointestinal endoscopy, rectal and anal conditions (including fistula and fissure repair, and haemorrhoid treatment), breast surgery (lumpectomy and mastectomy for benign and cancerous lumps), and thyroid surgery. He has additional expertise in pilonidal cyst removal, wound care, diabetic foot ulcer management, lymph node biopsy and skin lesion removal, as well as diagnostic procedures such as colonoscopy and fine-needle biopsy.

Dr. El-Hakeem is committed to continuous learning and patient-centred care. He is an accredited provider of Advanced Life Support training and holds memberships in several international surgical societies. He speaks Arabic and English.
