Dr. Debora Garozzo

Dr Debora Garozzo is an Italian neurosurgeon with over 30 years of experience in peripheral nerve surgery. She graduated from the University of Palermo with top honours and completed her neurosurgery training at Ospedale Borgo Trento in Verona. After starting her career in Bergamo in 1992, she moved to Rovigo in 1997 where she helped establish the neurosurgery department at Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital, which became a leading national centre for peripheral nerve work. She has refined her expertise through fellowships and visits to major centres in Sweden, Germany, and China, and in 2006 collaborated with leading surgeons in Shanghai to establish the Sino-European Meeting on brachial plexus surgery, a prestigious educational platform.

Dr Garozzo specialises in micro-reconstructive nerve surgery, particularly brachial plexus injuries in both adults and children, nerve entrapment conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and thoracic outlet syndrome, and benign and malignant nerve tumours, especially in patients with neurofibromatosis. She has published 2 books on her subspecialty (one translated into Chinese), 16 book chapters, and more than 20 articles in international journals. She serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent invited speaker at workshops and conferences worldwide.

Since 2017, Dr Garozzo has been based in Dubai, working as a consultant neurosurgeon at Mediclinic Parkview and Mediclinic City hospitals. She is vice-president of the Emirates Society of Neurological Surgeons and brings her international reputation and rigorous academic approach to complex peripheral nerve cases.
