Dr. Ubaid Hameed Shah

Dr. Ubaid Hameed Shah is a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist and Director of the Pediatrics Clinic at American Hospital Dubai. An Australian-trained physician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), he brings extensive experience in managing children with complex neurological conditions. He completed the prestigious George Gregan Fellowship in Pediatric Epilepsy at Children's Hospital at Westmead and held senior clinical and academic positions at leading Australian hospitals including Queensland Children's Hospital and Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.

Dr. Shah specializes in childhood epilepsy, particularly difficult-to-control (refractory) seizures. His expertise spans pre-surgical evaluation using advanced imaging and brain mapping techniques, invasive monitoring to pinpoint seizure sources, and cutting-edge treatments including vagal nerve stimulation, neuromodulation, and the ketogenic diet. He is skilled in robotic stereo-EEG—a minimally invasive procedure to map abnormal brain activity—and evaluates candidates for epilepsy surgery with the goal of achieving seizure freedom.

Dr. Shah is deeply committed to family-centered care, ensuring parents are fully informed at every step and actively involved in treatment decisions.
