Dr. Maria Shabbir

Dr. Maria Shabbir is a specialist general surgeon in Abu Dhabi with more than 23 years of surgical experience. She trained at Peshawar University, Pakistan (graduating in 1992 with a Gold Medal as the best graduate), and completed her surgical residency at Civil Hospital and Dow Medical College Karachi. She holds Fellowship in Surgery from the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (2002), and additional fellowships in Minimal Access Surgery and from the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Shabbir specializes in general surgery, colorectal conditions, and breast disease. She is experienced in both open and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, performing procedures including laparoscopic gallbladder removal, appendix surgery, hernia repair, and rectal wall separation repair with tummy tightening. For colorectal problems, she offers treatment for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, and pilonidal sinus disease using both conventional and laser techniques. She manages breast conditions ranging from benign lumps to breast cancer, performing breast biopsies, lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery), and mastectomy.

Early in her career, Dr. Shabbir was a Consultant and Professor of Surgery at Hamdard College of Medicine & Dentistry in Pakistan, where she taught and trained medical and dental students. She has subsequently worked at Emirates Hospital, Medcare Group, and Zulekha Hospital Dubai (2022–2025). Her approach combines clinical precision with patient-centered care and a commitment to safety.
