Dr. Mhamad Ghiyath Al Hashimi

Dr. Mhamad Ghiyath Al Hashimi is Chair of the Department of Anaesthesia at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, bringing two decades of clinical experience across all major areas of anaesthesia. He graduated from Baghdad University in Iraq and went on to complete specialist training in the UK, earning fellowship credentials from both the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the College of Anaesthetists of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He holds full registration with the UK General Medical Council and is licensed by the UAE Department of Health.

Dr. Al Hashimi's practice encompasses the full scope of anaesthesia, from perioperative anaesthesia to critical care management and sleep medicine. His background includes leadership roles as Consultant Anaesthetist and head of the Intensive Care Unit at Al Zahra Hospital, and as head of the Anaesthesia Department at Kanad Hospital. Beyond clinical work, he is actively engaged in academia and research, with peer-reviewed publications in journals including the British Journal of Anaesthesia.

He is a founder and general secretary of the Emirati Society of Anesthesiology and founder and editor-in-chief of the Emirati Journal of Anesthesiology.
