Dr. Mohamed Naeem Naser

Dr. Mohamed Naeem Naser is a consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He holds a medical degree from Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain and completed advanced fellowships at leading institutions in the UK and Singapore. With 25 years of clinical experience, he is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the International Council of Ophthalmology, and is Arab Board-certified. He has held senior departmental and academic roles across Bahrain and the UAE, including Head of Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex and senior teaching positions at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and Arabian Gulf University.

Dr. Naser has performed over 3,000 retinal surgeries and 5,000 cataract procedures throughout his career. His surgical expertise spans complex vitreoretinal work (including scleral buckle and vitrectomy), all forms of cataract surgery, advanced glaucoma procedures with drainage devices, laser treatments, management of eye trauma with foreign-body removal, and diagnosis and treatment of eye cancers such as choroidal melanoma and ocular lymphoma. He also specialises in retinopathy of prematurity screening and management.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Naser is an active researcher and international speaker. He holds leadership roles in professional organisations, including Vice President of the Arab Board of Ophthalmology Training Committee and membership in specialist societies across the region. His contributions have been recognised with awards from the World Health Organization for excellence in preventing blindness, the Singapore Medical Council, and the Bahrain Ministry of Health.
